Botanical Quilt

This patchwork quilt is an ode to some of the precious botanicals that we use in our natural dyeing experiments at Nila. It carries delicate motifs of marigolds, pomegranate and Indigofera tinctoria, as well as tamarind that is key in maintaining our vats. 

The fabric is woven with the softest handspun cotton on traditional looms in West Bengal. It is expertly screen-printed using natural indigo at the Ahmedabad studio of Asif Chhipa - the only known artisan studio in India that is screen printing with natural dyes. The botanical prints are delicately patched together with stripes, checks and solid indigo. The textile is hand-quilted with care by the talented women at Shakti Samuh, after a series of training sessions with the Nila studio team. The filling is of a pure, breathable cotton.

Whether draped elegantly over your bed or adorning your favourite reading nook, the Nila Botanical Quilt offers a light layer of comfort during the summer months. As the seasons change, double up or layer with more quilts to cocoon yourself in its warmth during the cooler seasons.
